Margia Dean (* 7. April 1922 in Chicago , Illinois as Marguerite Louise Skliris-Alvarez ) is an American actress and film producer of Greek origin.

Life

Margia Dean was born Marguerite Louise Skliris-Alvarez in Chicago in 1922. At a young age she moved with her family to San Francisco , where she started working as a stage actress from the age of seven. Among other things, she played the role of Juliet in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet , for which she won the Women's National Shakespeare Contest .

In addition to acting, Dean also worked as a model and participated in beauty pageants. In 1939 she was able to win the Miss San Francisco and Miss California titles. In 1944 Dean got her first film role in Casanova in Burlesque . Her first leading role followed in 1948 in Shep Come Home . In 1949 she was seen in the small role of a nurse in The Legacy of Monte Christo .

Margia Dean's best-known roles include Judith Carroon in the 1955 horror film Shock . In 1958 she played the female lead in the western Ambush at Cimarron Pass on the side of the then unknown Clint Eastwood in his first major role. In 1961, Dean starred as Mara Shepherd in the war film Escape from Hell . In 1964 she ended her acting career with a role in Moro Witch Doctor .

In addition to her acting career, Margia Dean also worked as a film producer, including in 1961 for the western The Long Rope and in 1964 for the horror comedy The Horror of It All . She also produced for television. Dean was married twice: from 1939 to the divorce in 1945 with Hal Fischer and since 1965 with Felipe Alvarez. After her film career, she worked as the vice president of a realtor, worked as a restorer and ran a fashion store.
