action

New Guinea 1942. When the Japanese take the island, the Australian scientist Grace Ingram is captured and taken to a women's camp. She shares her cell with six other women: the young, pregnant American Janet Cook, the German widow Anna Van Laer, the French waitress Claire Oudry, the Eurasian nurse Mai-Lu and the two Americans Mara and Regan. The camp commander, Captain Oda, ensures humane conditions.

Young Janet is stillborn in a bombing raid. Captain Oda is killed in the attack. His sadistic deputy Sergeant Takahashi takes command. With the help of the Japanese doctor Dr. Matsumo, the women can flee. However, Mara is captured again and tortured to death. Claire and Regan are killed by machine gun fire. The four survivors meet the injured US pilot Jackson. With his help they get to the beach. Jackson succumbs to his injuries.

Hullman, a wealthy plantation owner, picks up on women. The man seems friendly and helpful to the women, but he wants to betray them to the Japanese. The women discover Hullman's real intentions, kill him and are able to leave the island by boat.
