Marguerite Gerard
Marguerite Gérard (born January 28, 1761 in Grasse , † May 18, 1837 in Paris ) was a French painter and etcher . Her works can be assigned to classicism .
Life
Marguerite Gérard received her first drawing lessons from the painter Jean-Honoré Fragonard (1732–1806), her sister's husband, who urged her to continue her studies. There is much evidence that the two worked together. Marguerite Gérard was next to Élisabeth Vigée-Lebrun (1755–1842), Adélaïde Labille-Guiard (1749–1803) and Angelika Kauffmann (1741–1807) among the most famous painters of their time.
