The Dormition Church ( Serbian : Црква Успења Пресвете Богородице / Crkva Uspenja Presvete Bogorodice even Uspenska crkva (Успенска црква)), in the municipality of Gračac belonging village Deringaj is a Serbian Orthodox Church in the region of Lika in Croatia .

The church was built and consecrated in 1863. She is consecrated to the dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God . The church belongs to the Upper Karlovac eparchy of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

The church building is located in the center of the 77-inhabitant village of Deringaj, which is 6 km north of the municipal capital Gračac. The residents are mostly elderly members of the Serb minority in Croatia.

history

The Dormition Church was built and consecrated in 1863. During the Second World War , the church was set on fire and destroyed by the Croatian fascist Ustaša . At that time the Lika and the village belonged to the Independent State of Croatia , a vassal state of the Axis powers . To date, the reconstruction of the church has not started.

The church building is a branch church of the Gračac parish. The Gračac parish belongs to the Lika Deanery of the Upper Karlovac Eparchy. It consists of the small town of Gračac and the villages Tomingaj, Kijani, Deringaj, Omsica, Grab, Vučipolje, Vraca and Glavica.
