description

The nave of the originally late Gothic church was redesigned in 1708 in the Baroque style. The tower, which was redesigned in Baroque style in 1727, has a lantern .

The interior received a rococo decoration in 1756 . The high altar was designed particularly artfully . It is the work of the Hengersberg artist Benedikt Schreiter. On the altar is the miraculous image , a Madonna with the baby Jesus. The 1.50 m tall wooden figure was created around 1480.

In 1884 there was a new Romanesque revision. However, the Rococo style was reconstructed as early as 1913. The ceiling paintings by Jacques Dasbourg also date from this period.

Pilgrimage

The church was a popular place of pilgrimage in the 18th century. Miracle books report numerous answers to prayer and a rush of 15,000 pilgrims a year. The goal of the pilgrimage was the Gothic miraculous image.
