Maria Anna Order

The Maria Anna order was on May 15, 1906 by King Friedrich August III. Donated by Saxony in memory of his mother Maria Anna as an order of women . It could be awarded to women or virgins who have distinguished themselves in service at court or for charitable work or who have made special merits in promoting the common good through outstanding achievements.

Order classes

The order was originally donated in three classes and added the Maria-Anna-Kreuz on January 21, 1913.

  • I. class
  • II class
  • III. class

Order decoration

The medal consists of a blue enamelled gold-rimmed cross with strongly curved arms. In the medallion of the first two classes, the golden head of Maria Anna turned to the left can be seen on a golden background, which is enclosed by a white enameled ring. Gold ornaments inside. The initials MA (Maria Anna) on the reverse , also enclosed by a ring.

At the III. The silver cross , also with enamelled arms, is great. The circlet is without enamel. The Maria-Anna-Kreuz is only made of silver.

Carrying method

The first class was carried with a sash from the left shoulder to the right hip. The II. And III. Class on the ribbon on the left chest.

The ribbon is light blue with white stripes.
