Maria Magdalena, Burgweinting

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Maria Magdalena is located in Rudolf-Schlichtinger-Str . 1 in the Regensburg - Burgweinting district .

history

The strong population growth in the Burgweinting district of Regensburg made it necessary to build a new Protestant community center . On March 21, 2009 the Maria Magdalena Church was inaugurated by the Protestant regional bishop Johannes Friedrich . It offers space for around 110 people, but can be expanded to 250 seats by opening the community hall.

building

inner space

The entire building was designed by the Munich architect Ricco Johanson as a central building with an integrated rectory, community rooms and a bell room above the dome. The church space in the middle of the center is surrounded by the other rooms: rectory, group rooms, community hall and kitchen. The main focus is on the church service. The seats are arranged in a semicircle around the altar in the middle. A mirror cross “floats” over the altar. If you look up, you get the impression of being in a tent. A sign for the “wandering people of God” who are on the way on earth, but on the way to their Lord. The large altarpiece comes from Horst Thürheimer and was specially made for the church. It shows a biblical scene in an abstract design: the meeting of Mary Magdalene with the risen Christ on Easter morning ( Jn 20 : 11-18  LUT ).

organ

The organ is a Steinmeyer organ without an opus number. In the 1970s, two small pipe organs, which act as rental organs, were made for the Evangelical Lutheran. Regional church built in Bavaria . One of them is currently in Maria Magdalena. The disposition is:

Manual C – g 3
1. Dumped 8th'
2. Reed flute 4 ′
3. Schwiegel 2 ′
4th Scharff II
Pedal C – f 1
5. Sub-bass 16 ′

Community structure

Although Burgweinting is a district of Regensburg, there is also a village structure in which clubs and churches play an important role. The groups and circles of the community meet in the community center, where confirmation classes take place. In addition, the community invites you to concerts, readings, theater performances, etc.
