Marcel Kohler

Marcel Kohler (born November 7, 1991 in Mainz ) is a German actor .

life and work

From 2011 Kohler studied at the "Ernst Busch" Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin and obtained his diploma in the 2014/15 season. During his studies he played and staged at the BAT, the studio stage of his university, but also took on leading roles at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz and at the Deutsches Theater Berlin . At the BAT he worked on the role of Robespierre in Büchner's Dantons Tod (directed by Christian Grashof ) and Franz Biberkopf in Döblin's Berlin Alexanderplatz (staged by Angelika Waller ).

Kohler was a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation and has received several awards. The theater historian and juror Klaus Völker described him as a sensitive, intelligent character player who “always involves his partners in surprising interactions”. Kohler has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the Deutsches Theater Berlin since February 2015. In summer 2015 he made his debut in a Stephan Kimmig production of Goethe's Clavigo at the Salzburg Festival .
