Maria Crocifissa Di Rosa (born November 6, 1803 in Brescia , † December 15, 1855 in Brescia) was the founder of an order and is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church .

Maria, whose maiden name was Paola, came from a noble Italian family and took the vow of eternal virginity at the age of 17. In 1840 she founded the order of the "Maids of Love" (Suore Ancelle della Carità di S.Maria Crocifissa Di Rosa) , who are primarily dedicated to nursing. At the death of the founder of the order, who herself headed the community for 15 years, there were already 24 religious houses. Mary was born by Pope Pius XII. Beatified in 1940 and canonized on June 12, 1954 . Her feast day in the liturgy is December 15th
