Maria Eisner , also Maria Eisner Lehfeldt (born February 8, 1909 in Milan , † March 8, 1991 in New York City ) was an American photographer , photo editor and photo reporter.

Life

Eisner was originally from Milan and later studied in Germany . In the 1930s she was involved in founding the Paris photo agency Alliance Photo and emigrated to the USA at the beginning of the Second World War .

In 1947 she co-founded Magnum Photos . She was responsible for the organizational area of ​​the photo agency, together with William Vandivert's wife , Rita Vandivert, who left the agency after a year.
