Maria Gotze

Maria Götze (born December 24, 1980 in Frankenberg ) is a successful swimmer in German disabled sports .

Career

The short athlete started swimming in 1991 and achieved her first success as a competitive athlete at the Youth Country Cup in 1994. In addition to numerous European and world championship titles, she took part in the Summer Paralympics between 1996 and 2008 and has so far won a total of eight medals (1 × gold , 3 × silver, 4 × bronze). Götze was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf three times for her achievements (1996, 2001, 2005) and was awarded the Chemmy as Sportswoman of the Year six times in her hometown of Chemnitz .

Maria Götze lives in Chemnitz and works there as an employee of the public prosecutor's office; she trains in a non-disabled swimming group of the Bundesliga club SC Chemnitz 1892 , but competes for the BFV Ascota Chemnitz eV .
