Maria Poulsen (born October 29, 1984 in Hvidovre municipality ) is a Danish curler .

Career

Poulsen started her international career at the Junior B World Championship in 2001 as a lead in Madeleine Dupont's team . She qualified for the 2001 World Junior Championships and finished ninth there. Her greatest success in the junior division was winning the bronze medal at the 2006 World Cup .

For the adults, she played for the first time at the 2003 World Cup as a substitute. She achieved her best placement at the 2011 World Championships with a fourth place as lead in the team led by Lene Nielsen . At the European Championships , she won the bronze medal in 2005 and 2007 .

Poulsen was part of the Danish Olympic curling team at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. She played in the position of alternate alongside her teammates Skip Dorthe Holm , Third Denise Dupont , Second Lene Nielsen and Lead Malene Krause . The team took eighth place together with the US team.

Her second Olympic participation followed in 2014 as the lead of the Danish team. Together with Skip Lene Nielsen, Third Helle Simonsen , Second Jeanne Ellegaard and Alternate Mette de Neergaard , she came in sixth after four wins and five losses.
