The school was founded in 1988. The first class graduated from high school in 1997.

Partnerships
- There is a partnership with the school Gölcük uluslararasi dostluk ilkögretim okulu in Gölcük (HP). When an earthquake destroyed the old school on August 17, 1999, a committee of parents, teachers and students collected a total of DM 10,000. In addition, there were funds that the works council of Opel Bochum organized for the new school for 500 children, which started in February 2001 was opened (the total cost was 520,000 DM).

Projects
