Maria Teresa da Silva Gusmão
Maria Teresa da Silva Gusmão (born June 30, 1973 in Baucau , Portuguese Timor ) is a politician from East Timor. She is a member of the Partido Democrático (PD).
From 1995 to 1998 Gusmão was secretary for Java and Bali of the Ikatan Mahasiswa dan Pelajar Timor Timur IMPETTU ( German Students Timor Timur ), the state Indonesian-East Timorese student organization that was infiltrated by RENETIL . From 1998 to 2008 she worked as secretary to the Bishop of Baucau . She worked as a lecturer at the Universidade Cristal de Baucau and as a teacher at a secondary school in Baucau. She is also president of the Mulher Democrático , the PD women's organization, in the Baucau municipality .
In the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2017 , Gusmão ran for 6th place on the PD party list and successfully entered the East Timor’s national parliament as a member of parliament. Here she became leader of the PD group and a member of the Commission for Constitutional Affairs, Justice, Public Administration, Local Jurisprudence and the Fight against Corruption (Commission A). In the parliamentary elections in 2018 , Gusmão narrowly missed the entry into parliament on list position 6.
