Maria Trappgränd is a narrow street in the Swedish capital Stockholm .

location

The alley is in the Mariaberget district in the northwest of the island of Södermalm . It runs about 150 meters from the Söder Mälarstrand road steeply uphill to the south, crosses the Bastugatan and the Brännkyrkagatan and flows into the Hornsgatan . In its northern part it is only designed as a staircase.

history

The street was given the name Maria Trappgränd in the course of a name revision of the Stockholm streets in 1885. The name Trappgände was previously in use. In 1679 the name Trappe Stijgen is mentioned. The name Kyrkosteget existed in the 18th century, as the St. Mary Magdalene Church is located opposite the confluence with Hornsgatan .
