Maria Walter

Maria Walter (born September 27, 1895 in Stuttgart ; † May 1, 1988 ibid) was a German politician .

Life, job

Maria Walter was born Maria Harm in Stuttgart-Degerloch. She attended elementary school from 1901 to 1909 and then worked for the Haueisen company in Degerloch and Cannstatt until 1926. From 1928 to 1933 she worked as the head of the women's secretariat for the KPD. While fleeing the Gestapo , she emigrated to Switzerland in 1933, but returned in 1934 in poor health. After the war she did not appear in public any more.

politics

Since 1928 she was a member of the Stuttgart City Council. Also in 1928 she ran unsuccessfully for the Württemberg Landtag and for the Reichstag . From 1932 to 1933, Maria Walter was a KPD member of the Württemberg state parliament. In parliament, she was a board member of the KPD parliamentary group and a member of the tax committee.
