Maria de Mattias
Maria De Mattias (born February 4, 1805 in Vallecorsa , Italy, † August 20, 1866 in Rome ) was a founder of the order and is a Catholic saint .
Maria, who came from a pious and upper-class family, was brought up religiously. She was spiritually influenced by Gaspare del Bufalo , whom she met in 1822. In 1834 she founded the Congregation of the Adorers of the Precious Blood in Acuto (Italian: Adoratrici del Preziosissimo Sangue , today Adoratrici del Sangue di Cristo ), whose main task is the education of girls. She went to Rome to expand her community . Maria was in 1950 beatified and on 18 May 2003 Pope John Paul II. Canonized .
Her feast day in the liturgy is August 20th .
The community of crucified and risen love , a private association of believers from Maastricht , sees Maria de Mattias as a spiritual model.
