Borve ( Gaelic : Borgh ) is a small town on the west coast of the Scottish Hebrides -Insel Barra and belongs administratively to the Council Area Outer Hebrides . It is located about three kilometers northwest of Castlebay , the capital of the island, and was to be the location of the Isle of Barra whiskey distillery, founded in 2008 , the only distillery on the island. However, the project seems to have been discontinued in the meantime.
In the vicinity of Borve, right next to the A888 , there are two of the seven menhirs on the island. ( 56 ° 58 ′ 57.3 " N , 7 ° 30 ′ 41.6" W ).
Borve is on the A888, the island's main route; the Barra Airport is about five kilometers away.
