Na h-Eileanan an Iar is a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was introduced in 1999 under the name Western Isles as one of eight constituencies in the Highlands and Islands electoral region , which was redesigned as part of the constituencies' revision in 2011. Here, the constituency was renamed Na h-Eileanan an Iar according to the Gaelic name of the Outer Hebrides Council Area , which it represents . It includes all of the islands in the Outer Hebrides, including Lewis , Harris , North Uist , Benbecula and South Uist . The constituency sends a representative.
The constituency extends over an area of 3,059.5 km 2 . In the 2011 census survey, a total of 27,684 people lived within its borders. This makes Na h-Eileanan an Iar the third most populous constituency for the Scottish Parliament.
