Alasdair Morrison

Alasdair Morrison (born November 18, 1968 in Stornoway ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labor Party .

Morrison attended the Paible School on North Uist and the Nicolson Institute on the Isle of Lewis . He then went to Glasgow Caledonian University and then worked as a journalist, including for the BBC .

Political career

For the first time Morrison appeared in the Scottish general election in 1999 to national elections. He ran in the constituency of Na h-Eileanan an Iar (Western Isles) and was able to win the direct mandate with a clear lead over the candidate of the SNP . He moved into the newly created Scottish Parliament and was appointed Deputy Minister for Highlands and Islands and Gaelic . He was appointed Deputy Minister for Enterprise, Lifelong Learning and Gaelic in October 2000 and held that position until November 2001. He was able to defend his mandate in the 2003 parliamentary elections , but lost his seat in parliament in the 2007 elections .
