Inverness East, Nairn and Lochaber was a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was introduced in 1999 as one of eight constituencies in the Highlands and Islands electoral region , which was redesigned as part of the constituency revision in 2011. The constituency of Ross, Skye and Inverness West was dissolved. It comprised sparsely populated, central areas of the Council Area Highland consisting of areas of the traditional counties Inverness-shire and Ross-shire with the cities of Dingwall , Alness and Muir of Ord as well as the Isle of Skye . Inverness itself, however, was assigned to the neighboring constituency of Inverness East, Nairn and Lochaber . In the 2001 census survey, a total of 71,966 people lived within its borders. The areas have merged into the constituencies of Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch , Caithness, Sutherland and Ross and Inverness and Nairn . A deputy was sent.
