Mary of the Sacrament of Jesus

Mary of the Sacrament of Jesus ( Spanish María de Jesús Sacramentado , civil: María Natividad Venegas de la Torre , born September 8, 1868 in Zapotlanejo, Jalisco , Mexico ; †  July 30, 1959 in Guadalajara , Mexico) was a Mexican religious. She is a saint in the Catholic Church .

In 1905 María Venegas de la Torre joined the recently founded religious community of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus , which particularly cares for the abandoned sick and needy. In 1921 she was appointed Superior General of the Institute. In 1930 the Archbishop of Guadalajara, where the community was settled, officially confirmed the order. Shortly afterwards, Maria Venegas took the religious name Maria from the sacrament of Jesus and made her perpetual vows .

She was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1992 and canonized in 2000.
