Maria von Wedel

Maria Caroline Cäcilie Countess von Wedel (pseudonym: Marie Witilo; born February 22, 1855 in Weimar , † December 25, 1913 in Weimar) was a German writer.

Maria von Wedel was a daughter of the Grand Ducal Oberhofmarschall and General Friedrich von Beust and the Cäcilie von Gersdorff, a daughter of the State Minister Ernst Christian August von Gersdorff .

As the wife of Oberhofmarschall Oscar Graf von Wedel (1835-1908), who worked at the Weimar court, she spent her life in Weimar. She had seven children, including five daughters. The oldest, Cecilie, became a painter, three more became ladies-in-waiting. One of them, Pauline, married District Administrator Clemens von Wedel-Gödens , another, Eva, married Prince Johannes-Hugo Radolin, a grandson of Hugo Prince von Radolin . Her two sons, one of them Erhard Graf von Wedel , became diplomats.
