Friedrich von Beust

Friedrich Hermann Graf von Beust (* 20th October 1813 in Altenburg ; † 10. June 1889 in Weimar ) was Grand Duke of Saxon Real Privy Councilor , Chamberlain and Lord Marshal , Major General and Adjutant General and Honorary Knight of the Order of St. John .

Life

origin

Friedrich Graf von Beust came from the ancient nobility of the von Beust family . His parents were the privy councilor and envoy to the Bundestag in Frankfurt Karl Leopold von Beust (1780–1849) and Friederike von Trützschler (1790–1813).

Career

Coming from the cadet corps , Beust was transferred to the 2nd Cavalry Regiment of the Saxon Army on April 1, 1830 . On June 6, 1831 he was promoted to secondary lieutenant and on April 1, 1834 was transferred to the 1st Cavalry Regiment. On 11 June 1837 he was awarded the character as a lieutenant colonel and permission in Saxony-weimarsche services through pedaling. There he took up his service on August 3, 1837 as staff captain and adjutant to the Hereditary Duke . He rose to captain on January 15, 1841 and on September 22, 1846 to major and adjutant of his employer. He was promoted again to lieutenant colonel on February 2, 1852, to colonel on December 24, 1854, and finally to major general and adjutant general of the Grand Duke of Saxony on July 10, 1862. In this rank and position, Best was appointed to October 1, 1867 taken over the Association of the Prussian Army . In 1870/71 he took part in the Franco-Prussian War , where he was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class . He was promoted to lieutenant general on October 18, 1873.

He was the holder of numerous other medals.

family

In 1842 he married Cäcilie Freiin von Gersdorff (1821–1872), daughter of Ernst Christian August von Gersdorff . Several children were born from this marriage:
