Charlotte von Gwinner

Charlotte von Gwinner (Charlotte von Wedel) (born October 13, 1891 in Berlin , † May 20, 1972 in Starnberg ) was a German writer.

Charlotte (Lotti) von Gwinner was a daughter of the bank director Arthur Gwinner and Anna Speyer, a daughter of the banker Philipp Speyer , and a granddaughter of Wilhelm Gwinner , the friend and executor of Arthur Schopenhauer . Her grandfather and thus the family were raised to hereditary nobility in 1908 .

On May 31, 1917, she married Bergrat and later Rittmeister d. In Krumke , the Altmark estate of her father, who was spokesman for the board of Deutsche Bank at the time. R. Berndt Janusch Bogislav von Wedel (* May 1, 1882 Belgard in Pomerania, † July 25, 1935 Berlin), a son of the farmer Bogislav von Wedel (-Komptendorf) and Anna von Berndt. The marriage remained childless and was divorced in 1921.

Charlotte von Gwinner lived in Berlin-Charlottenburg until the end of the war and then in Upper Bavaria. At times she worked as a photographer. Her publications appeared under her maiden name until 1943, since then under the name "Charlotte von Wedel", under which she became an honorary member of the Schopenhauer Society in 1966 .
