Mariakerk (Nisse)
The Mariakerk ( German Marienkirche ) is a Gothic Protestant parish church in the district of Nisse in the municipality of Borsele in the Dutch province of Zeeland .
history
Already in 1196 Nisse was an independent parish as a parish of St. Johannes in 's-Heer Abtskerke . The church was originally dedicated to St. Hubertus. The mighty church tower of the Mariakerk was built in the late 14th century. A new single-nave nave was added to it around 1425 to replace an older previous building. A long choir closed on five sides with a side sacristy followed around 1450. The south transept was built around 1500, the north was added a little later.
The Protestant parish of Nisse is part of the Protestantse Kerk in Nederland, which was created in 2004 . The congregation was established in 1996 as a merger of the reformed congregation Nisse and the local members of the Gereformeerde congregation in Heinkenszand. The parish shares the pastor with that of Hoedekenskerke .
organ
The organ was built in 1911 by the organ building company NV Standaart as a single-manual instrument. The instrument was expanded in 1943 and today has 17 stops on two manuals and pedal. The actions are pneumatic.
