Mariana Frenk-Westheim
Mariana Frenk-Westheim (born June 4, 1898 in Hamburg ; † June 24, 2004 in Mexico City ) was a German-Mexican prose writer , Hispanic writer , literature teacher and one of the most important translators in Mexico .
As a descendant of Sephardic Jews , she emigrated to Mexico in 1930 with her husband Ernst Frenk and their two children, Margit and Sylvester. In 1935 she took on the Mexican citizenship. After Frenk's death in 1957, she married the art historian Paul Westheim , whose works she translated into Spanish.
She became known for her translations into German by the Mexican author Juan Rulfo . In addition, she published poems and aphorisms, most recently in 2002 the volume of poetry "A thousand rhymes for big and small. The world of animals and things presented alphabetically".
