Marianne von Willemer Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Marianne von Willemer Prize (self-written by Marianne.von.Willemer - Frauen.Literatur.Preis ) was founded in 1999 as a literature prize by the City of Linz and the AEC Linz . This award in memory of Marianne von Willemer , who was born in Linz, is intended to support women writers who, in the opinion of the donors, have generally been disadvantaged in the award of literary prizes. The prize is a women's prize .

The prize, which until 2002 consisted of two equal awards, honors traditionally printed literary texts on the one hand, and highlights texts published on the Internet on the other. Every year since 2004, print texts have alternated with the Women.Literature.Prize and computer-assisted texts have been honored with the award for digital media . The award winners should live in Austria, whereby individuals as well as groups can be awarded.

The prize is advertised as a competition - exclusively among women - and is endowed with 3600 euros (as of 2019). A recognition award for literature was also introduced in 2005, and since 2007 there has also been a youth award for women authors under 19 ("U19") and the opportunity to award several recognitions.
