Renate Plöchl (born July 29, 1962 in Pasching ) is an Austrian Germanist and director of the Upper Austrian regional library in Linz .

Life

Plöchl grew up in Pasching near Linz and did an apprenticeship as a bookseller after graduating from high school . She then studied German , linguistics , journalism and communication studies at the University of Salzburg and the FU Berlin . She wrote her diploma thesis on the work of the Linz writer Maria von Peteani .

At the beginning of her professional career, Renate Plöchl was an employee in Upper Austria. Landesmuseum in Linz and in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. She then worked at the Open House of Culture in Linz, before moving to the Culture Directorate of Upper Austria in 2003, where she took over the management of the Zeitkultur department from 2010. Plöchl was also director of the SCHÄXPIR international theater festival from 2010 to 2016 .

From 1989 to 2002 she was editorially responsible for the magazine Neues Museum, founded in 1989 by the Austrian Museum Association . From 2006 to 2015, Plöchl was a member of the editorial team of the literary magazine Die Rampe published by Stifterhaus Linz .

Plöchl has been director of the Upper Austrian State Library in Linz since 2016 .

Renate Plöchl was married to the artist and journalist Peter Kraml , who died in 2017 .
