Waltraud Seidlhofer

Waltraud Seidlhofer (born November 26, 1939 in Linz ) is an Austrian poet.

Life

Seidlhofer spent her childhood in Puchenau . After graduating from high school in 1957, she began studying German and English in Vienna . However, she did not complete it and became a public librarian in Linz. In 1965 she moved to Wels and in 1969 to Thalheim near Wels . In 1972 she moved to the Wels city library and was a librarian there until she retired in 1994.

She wrote her first poems in the late 1950s. Since 1961 she has mainly published prose and poetry, but also essayistic and graphic texts. The center of her life is in Upper Austria.

Her work has appeared in literary magazines in Europe and the USA. Readings took place in European cities, but also in the USA. Many trips to European cities, to South Africa, the USA, Hawaii and Samoa, the Fiji Islands, Australia, Cuba. She spent longer stays in New Zealand in 1997, 2001/02 and 2006.
