Angelika Reitzer (* 1971 in Graz ) is an Austrian writer and editor .

Life

Angelika Reitzer studied German in Salzburg and Berlin. In 1998 she wrote her thesis Atmen.Schritt on the poetics of Ernst Jandl . This was followed by various works in the arts and culture (including the Salzburg scene , Neue Visionen Filmverleih Berlin, Picus Verlag Vienna, Forum Stadtpark ).

She is an author (prose, poetry, dramatic texts) and literary mediator and teaches at the Institute for Linguistic Art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.

Reception, press

It is a new and different kind of realistic writing that Reitzer practices. That sociological drawers are too small for this is impressively demonstrated in Wir Erben . It is not about the precarious living conditions of the precarious, but about the fact that life itself is always precarious or that something about it can become precariously precarious. Suddenly a figure begins to move, and suddenly in this movement everything about her previous life seems strange to her.

The novel among us is no more depressing than good literature has to be, no more comforting than good literature should be - a great milieu study ... writes Daniela Strigl in the Viennese city newspaper Der Falter.

The story, sonnenschirme, by the Viennese author Angelika Reitzer, precisely describes the milkmaid calculations , self-deception and evasive maneuvers of the twenty to forty-year-olds between the desire for professional establishment and the panic of actual determination. The text describes from the first-person perspective that new type of network economy, as it predominates in the cultural sector and which in recent years has been alternately welcomed euphorically (as emancipation from normal employment) and condemned (as a particularly subtle form of capitalist submission). It is a life for the future, the present is crossed breathlessly: there is always a little job somewhere that might help you achieve a breakthrough, an application has to be out until midnight and your own creativity is always available. If it weren't for this tiredness lately ... (Christiane Mennicke and Annette Weisser, Kunsthaus Dresden)

Our present of the 21st century forms the framework for the bright area , and yet a mood emerges as we know it from novels like Unterwegs or Die Palette . A literary picture of the time, at the same time a poetic sketch, indefinite, but full of concrete events in our own lives. (Rudolf von Bitter in the BR )

In the jury's rationale for the manuscript award, it was stated in terms of Reitzer's prose that the author succeeded in illuminating everyday scenes through a precise choice of words. This could also be used to characterize the storytelling in a daylight area : it always appears surprisingly unsentimental in tone, but is nevertheless very poetic in the richness of the images and in the sensitive design of many apparently irrelevant details.
