Ingeborg Bachmann Prize 2008

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ingeborg Bachmann Prize 2008 was the 32nd competition for the literature prize as part of the Days of German-Language Literature . The event took place from June 26th to 28th, 2008 in the Klagenfurt ORF theater of the Carinthia regional studio . The event was moderated once by Dieter Moor .

Several reforms came into force that year to “streamline” the format. The number of jurors was reduced from nine to seven, the number of authors from 18 to 14. In addition, the entire event was shortened: the three reading days became two, and the voting on the winners was brought forward from the Sunday after the reading days to the evening of the last reading day. The shortening of the time was withdrawn in the following year.

Another innovation concerned the texts themselves. For the first time, the competition entries were published simultaneously on the Internet in German, English, French, Italian, Croatian, Spanish, Czech and Slovenian. ORF's online reporting has also been internationalized. The complex project was repeated in the following years, but canceled in 2012.

The Riesenmaschine weblog participated with an “automatic literary criticism prize”, for which plus and minus points were awarded based on a list of properties of the text or the author; the prize of 500 euros ultimately went to Tilman Rammstedt .
