Ingeborg Bachmann Prize 2019

The Ingeborg Bachmann Prize 2019 is the 43rd competition for the literature prize as part of the Days of German-Language Literature . The event took place from June 26th to 30th, 2019 in the Klagenfurt ORF theater of the State Studio Carinthia . On May 9, 2019, the authors were announced who will read in Klagenfurt in the main competition. Six participants came from Austria , five from Germany and three from Switzerland . The 20th Klagenfurt speech on literature was given by Clemens J. Setz , who was awarded the Ernst Willner Prize in Klagenfurt in 2008 , under the title “ Kayfabe and Literature”.

On June 29, 2019, the audience award was voted online. On June 30, 2019, the jury announced a shortlist of seven names, from which the prizes were then awarded in a public vote. The shortlist included Yannic Han Biao Federer, Birgit Birnbacher, Leander Fischer, Daniel Heitzler, Julia Jost, Ronya Othmann and Sarah Wipauer.
