Yannic Han Biao Federer (* 1986 in Breisach am Rhein ) is a German writer.

Life

Yannic Han Biao Federer grew up as the son of an Indonesian and a German in southern Baden . After graduating from high school, he studied German and Romance languages in Bonn, Florence and Oxford. He worked as a freelancer for the Badische Zeitung and the German Press Agency . He completed his studies at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn with a doctorate ; the title of his dissertation is: Mass & Apocalypse. For the narrative development of an authoritarian construction in the zombie genre . In 2018 he started working in public relations at the Literaturhaus Köln . He also worked as a lecturer at the University of Bonn.

The first stories appeared in literary magazines and anthologies, including metamorphosen . For his prose text Stay Hungry , published in the magazine Karussell , he received the main prize of the Wuppertal Literature Biennale 2018, endowed with 3,000 euros.

In 2019 his novel Und alles wie aus papier maché was published by Suhrkamp Verlag , which was positively received by the critics. Federer accompanies four young people on their search for identity and orientation in a world that is becoming fragile. In the Frankfurter Rundschau , Martin Oehlen praised how cleverly arranged and closely observed Federer captures the development and alienation of some friends in Breisgau . In an article for literaturkritik.de , Sascha Seiler said: “The special highlight of the novel [...] is the art of condensation, which Federer has mastered in a playful way: in their accumulation and rapid succession, the events often seem bizarre, exaggerated and not very credible . However, if you add the time between the episodes, all the secrecy [...], you quickly notice that you are only confronted with parts of a life that were formative and groundbreaking. "

At the invitation of Hildegard Elisabeth Keller , Yannic Han Biao Federer took part in the 43rd Days of German-Language Literature in Klagenfurt in 2019 and read his text I don't know . As part of the competition, he was awarded the 3sat prize.
