Ingeborg Bachmann Prize 2020
The Ingeborg Bachmann Prize 2020 is the 44th competition for the literature prize as part of the Days of German-Language Literature .
history
The event took place from June 17 to 21, 2020 , due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, not as in previous years in the ORF state studio in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee in front of an audience, but only broadcast via 3sat , Deutschlandfunk and online stream.
In 2020, the event was initially canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the five jury members Klaus Kastberger , Brigitte Schwens-Harrant , Philipp Tingler , Michael Wiederstein and Insa Wilke protested against this decision and pleaded for the competition to take place in an alternative form. ORF General Director Alexander Wrabetz then announced that he would be working on a digital version on the Internet.
The 21st Klagenfurt speech on literature with the title May black flowers paint? was held by Sharon Dodua Otoo , who was awarded the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize 2016 .
While the readings by the authors were recorded and played in advance, the jury discussed live after each reading. To this end, camera systems were installed in the jury members' workrooms. In addition to the journalist Christian Ankowitsch from the ORF Theater in Klagenfurt as moderator, Julya Rabinowich and Heinz Sichrovsky commented on the event.
As a supporting program, the Association for Stimulating Dramatic Appetite (VADA) brought the “Public Passive Münzer Cell” next to the Art Nouveau Theater in Klagenfurt in the Goethepark to new life during the Days of German-Language Literature . From June 18 to 20, 2020, a person from literary life ( Isabella Straub , Karsten Krampitz or Ines Birkhan ) called this telephone booth at 6.30 p.m. As soon as the doorbell rang, someone in the audience was allowed to pick up the receiver and make a call with the caller. The conversation was broadcast to the surrounding audience via loudspeaker.
