Brigitte Schwens-Harrant (* 1967 in Wels as Brigitte Harrant ) is an Austrian Germanist , literary critic and journalist .

Life

Brigitte Harrant studied German Philology and Theology at the University of Vienna , graduating in 1990 with a Magistra. 1995 doctorate it at Vienna University with a dissertation on the subject experienced world - erschriebene worlds: Theology in an interview with Austrian narrative literature of the present to the doctor .

Since 1992 she has worked as an editor for various media in the literature sector. In 1992 she was awarded the Federal Ministry for Education and Art . From 2000 to 2002 she headed the Literary Forum in Vienna and was editor-in-chief of the magazine SCHRIFT /zeichen for literature, art, religion.

Since 2002 she has been head of the literature department and since 2013 head of the features section of the weekly newspaper Die Furche . She is the editor of the websites www.literatur-religion.net and www.literaturkritik.at as well as lecturer at the University of Innsbruck , the University of Salzburg and the University of Vienna. In 2015 she was awarded the State Prize for Literary Criticism , and since 2015 she has moderated the series WERK.GÄNGE of the Austrian Society for Literature .

In 2016 she was a member of the jury for the Austrian Book Prize and has been a member of the jury for the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize since 2020 .
