The Ingeborg Bachmann Prize 2018 is the 42nd competition for the literature prize as part of the Days of German-Language Literature . The event took place from 4th to 8th July 2018 in the Klagenfurt ORF theater of the State Studio Carinthia and was moderated by Christian Ankowitsch . On June 4, 2018, the authors who will read in the main competition in Klagenfurt were announced. Nine participants came from Germany , two from Switzerland , one participant each from Turkey , Ukraine and Austria . The 19th Klagenfurt speech on literature was given by Feridun Zaimoglu , winner of the 2003 Bachmann Prize jury, entitled “The value of words”.

New to the jury were Nora Gomringer ( 2015 Bachmann Prize winner ) and Insa Wilke, who replaced the previous jury members Meike Feßmann and Sandra Kegel .

Prices

On July 7, 2018, online voting for the audience award took place. On July 8, 2018, the jury announced a shortlist of seven names, from which the prizes were then awarded in a public vote. The shortlist included Bov Bjerg, Özlem Özgül Dündar, Raphaela Edelbauer, Joshua Groß, Ally Klein, Tanja Maljartschuk and Anna Stern.
