Stephan Lohse (* 1964 in Hamburg ) is a German actor , theater director and writer .

Life

Stephan Lohse studied acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and from 1990 worked at large theaters such as the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, the Schaubühne on Lehniner Platz or the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin. He also took on numerous engagements in the independent theater scene ( Schauspielhaus Wien , Hebbel am Ufer , Sophiensæle , Matthaei and many others) and also worked as a director.

In 2017, Suhrkamp Verlag published Lohse's first novel Ein lazy God about an eleven-year-old boy whose little brother is dying. He supports his badly hit mother in the grief. The book received very good reviews and was on the SWR best list in June 2017 . The critic Hubert Spiegel judged: “Stephan Lohse tells a strange floating story of grief and loss, of the wondrous adventures of childhood and of how a son and a mother find each other in pain and helplessness. His novel is sensitive, but never cheesy, touching and humorous and shows a great feeling for speaking details. A nice, impressive debut. "

At the invitation of Hubert Winkels , he read his text Lumumbaland in July 2018 during the 42nd Days of German-Language Literature in Klagenfurt .
