Joshua Groß (born 1989 in Grünsberg , Bavaria ) is a German writer.

Life

Joshua Groß studies political science, economics and ethics of text cultures. He writes regularly for the Berlin literary magazine metamorphosen . His work has so far received numerous awards. In 2014, Groß was the winner of the Middle Franconian district and received the Bavarian Art Prize in the literature category. In 2016 he was awarded the Erlangen Culture Prize. In 2018 he received a working grant from the Free State of Bavaria and a grant from the Roger Willemsen Foundation . The jury's statement was:

Joshua Groß stands out because of his unique literary talent. His texts are contemporary and visionary, they work with absurd humor and are able to sound out precise feelings, human and social conditions.

In the same year he edited the anthology Mindstate Malibu together with Johannes Hertwig and Andy Kassier, which the Süddeutsche Zeitung said was the best "contribution to the central dilemma of digital existence" to date.

In 2018, at the suggestion of Insa Wilke, he was invited to the 42nd Days of German-Language Literature in Klagenfurt . In 2019 he received the renowned Anna Seghers Prize .

In the same year, together with Moritz Müller-Schwefe, he published the volume Wir werden kosmisch by Etel Adnan and published his novel Flexen in Miami in 2020 at Matthes & Seitz Berlin .
