Christian "Anko" Ankowitsch (born July 20, 1959 in Klosterneuburg ) is an Austrian journalist and writer .

Life

Ankowitsch grew up in Styria , studied art history and history in Graz and Hamburg and did his doctorate in Graz on the subject of “Abstraction and Secret Doctrine. On the genesis of the neo-plasticist theory and painting by Piet Mondrian “to the Dr. phil.

Ankowitsch has been working as a journalist since 1978. From 1978 to 1981 he worked as a freelancer for the Kleine Zeitung ( Graz ), from 1983 to 1987 for Falter ( Vienna ) and from 1988 to 1993 for Der Standard (Vienna). From 1993 to 2001 he worked for Die Zeit ( Hamburg ), where he was head of the online editorial department from 1996 to 1999. In 2000 and 2001 he and a colleague headed the “ZEITLeben” department in Berlin. Since then he has been working as a freelance journalist and book author.

In 1999 Ankowitsch founded the Internet forum Höfliche Paparazzi together with Tex Rubinowitz . It was available as a source of curious and unbelievable facts in the two comedy rate shows Know -It- Alls - The Great Show of Unnecessary Knowledge and Even Better-Knowing - The Great Show of Unnecessary Knowledge , both at ProSieben , and resolved the questions.

In October 2008 Christian Ankowitsch presented the daily video show Dr. Ankos 365, in which he explained historical topics of the day in an entertaining way. The videos could be seen on the websites of bild.de , welt.de, morgenpost.de, Wissen.de and sevenload . On the latter two online media they are still today. A continuation has been promised, but has not yet been implemented.

On March 14, 2011, Ankowitsch presented the ORF literary program les.art for the first time , which is broadcast four times a year on ORF 2 . Christian Ankowitsch has been moderating the jury discussions at the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize since July 2013 .

Ankowitsch lives with his family in Berlin-Charlottenburg .
