Ines Birkhan

Ines Birkhan (* 1974 in Vienna ) is an Austrian author , dancer and choreographer .

Life

Ines Birkhan studied sculpture under Alfred Hrdlicka and Gerda Fassel at the University of Applied Arts Vienna . She later studied dance and choreography at the School For New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam . Since 2001 she has been working as a freelance choreographer and dancer and co-director of the dance company Real Dance Super Sentai .

Since 2005 she has also been active as an author; Among other things, she published short stories in literary magazines. Her debut novel “Chrysalis” was published in 2009, followed in 2012 with Angel Meat. Rejects her second novel. In 2014 she was awarded a Theodor Körner Prize for her novel project Stein . In 2019 she was invited to the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition by Nora Gomringer .
