Gerda Fassel

Gerda Fassel (born August 14, 1941 in Vienna ) is an Austrian sculptor .

Life

Fassel did a commercial apprenticeship from 1955 to 1958 and worked mainly in this profession until 1962, where she attended the Vienna art school with Hans Staudacher from 1960 to 1961 . From 1962 to 1965 Fassel worked in the hospitality industry in Florida and New York (USA) and studied sculpture with José de Creeft at the Art Students' League . From 1965 to 1968 Fassel graduated from high school and then from 1968 to 1972 studied sculpture at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna with Hans Knesl and Wander Bertoni .

After a visiting professorship from 1996 to 1998, Fassel held the professorship for sculpture at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna from 1998 to 2006. She led the master class for sculpture in the succession of Alfred Hrdlicka .
