Mariano Paredes (artist)

Mariano Paredes (born December 26, 1912 in Veracruz , † December 8, 1979 in Mexico City ) was a Mexican artist.

From 1924 to 1933 he attended evening classes at the San Carlos Art Academy. His teachers were José Clemente Orozco and Fernando Leal . From 1934 to 1938 he was in the Liga de Escritores y Artistas Revolucionarios (League of Revolutionary Writers and Artists, LEAR). In 1937, alongside Alberto Beltrán , Ángel Bracho , Isidoro Ocampo , Leopoldo Méndez , Pablo O'Higgins , Raúl Anguiano and other artists, he was involved in founding the Taller de Grafica Popular (Workshop of Folk Graphic Artists, TGP). From 1944 he worked as an art lecturer at various schools. In 1947 he was a co-founder of the Sociedad Mexicana de Grabadores (Mexican Society of Engravers). Paredes was also a member of the Sociedad para el Impulso de las Artes Plásticas (Society for the Impulse of Plastic Art).
