Marichi
Marichi ( Sanskrit मरीचि marīci m. ) Is one of the seven wise men ( saptarishi ) in Hinduism and is also counted among the Prajapatis .
Hinduism
Marichi is considered the spirit-born son of Brahma and through Kala is the father of the sage Kashyapa . Marichi is considered the leader of the Marut .
Jainism
In Jainism , Marichi is the son of the first Chakravartin Bharata. Because of his bad karma , he fell into the misconception that the Brahmanic three-rod leads to salvation. He was later reborn as Mahavira , the last Tirthamkara .
