Marie-Aimée Steck
Marie-Aimée Steck (born January 30, 1776 in Versailles as Marie-Aimée Guichelin , † August 12, 1821 in Belp ) was a French-Swiss writer .
Life
Marie-Aimée Steck was born as the daughter of a Versailles carpenter and laundress. She received her training in a Paris convent school. In 1791 she wrote her first ode, La nuit . She served as an assistant to several scientists.
She made the acquaintance of Johann Rudolf Steck in the Parisian household of the trader Johann Caspar Schweizer . In 1797 she married him in the chapel of the Swedish embassy in Paris. From 1798 she lived with Steck in Aarau , after his recall as Helvetian Secretary General on his estate in Moosseedorf . After the early death of her husband in 1805, she took care of her four children alone. She died in 1821 in the parsonage in Belp, where her son-in-law Bernhard Wyss was pastor.
Marie-Aimée Steck translated various texts by Johannes von Müller into French.
