Johann Rudolf Steck

Johann Rudolf Steck (baptized on May 16, 1772 in Bern ; † September 21, 1805 there ) was a Swiss politician and philosopher .

Steck became a law firm substitute in 1795. In 1797 he married the Parisian poet Marie-Aimée Guichelin . In 1798 he was secretary of the Helvetic Directory . Together with Albrecht Friedrich May he belonged to a group of reform-minded, young patricians. From 1803 he sat in the Bernese Grand Council and in the appellate court. Steck is considered to be the creator of the Bern Criminal Code .
