Marie Brandis
Marie Brandis , married Marie Berzé (born October 3, 1866 in Cilli , Austrian Empire , † October 21, 1906 in Graz , Austria-Hungary ) was an Austrian opera singer ( soprano ).
Life
Her maiden name is unknown, Brandis was a stage name. She made her debut at the Theater an der Wien . After having worked on various stages in Germany and the USA, she made her debut at the Theater of Graz in 1899 as "Ortrud" in "Lohengrin". She then went to the Wroclaw Opera House from 1901 to 1903 and to the German Theater in Prague in 1904. After returning to Graz, she died shortly after her 40th birthday.
Guest performances brought her to the Bayreuth Festival in 1899 (1899 as “Gerhilde” in “Walküre”) and to the Vienna Court Opera (1900 and 1901 as “Senta”).
