Marie Keyrouz

Marie Keyrouz (* 1963 in Deir el-Ahmar near Baalbek , Lebanon ) is a Lebanese singer and religious sister.

She comes from a Maronite family and is a member of the Melkite congregation of the Basiliennes Chouerites women's order . She studied religious studies at the University of Saint Joseph , Beirut , classical and oriental singing at the University of St. Esprit , Kaslik , and at the Sorbonne University , Paris, where she completed her studies in 1991 with a doctorate in musicology and religious anthropology.

Marie Keyrouz is known as a singer of both oriental and western sacred chants. She is the founder and chairwoman of the International Institute for Sacred Singing in Paris.
