The Marie Taglioni polka was originally announced as the New Year's polka , but was renamed by Strauss in honor of the aforementioned dancer and premiered at a concert by the Strauss Chapel in the Volksgarten in Vienna.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 2 minutes and 58 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
