Marie Tomschik

Marie Tomschik , married Marie Mosel , ( February 23, 1871 in Vienna - January 1, 1930 in Karlsruhe , German Empire ) was an Austrian opera singer ( alto ).

Life

Tomschik, the daughter of a postman, was prepared for a stage career by Aurelie Wilczek . In 1891 she made her debut in Bielitz as "Azucena". In 1892 she came to Berlin at the Krollsche Theater (inaugural role also "Azucena") and in 1893 joined the Association of the Bremen City Theater (inaugural role: "Ortrud"). In 1896 she went to Karlsruhe.

In 1902 she sang in Wiesbaden and in 1903 at the opera house in Riga. From 1905 to 1907 she was in Graz, then for a year in Hamburg and again from 1908 to 1910 she was engaged at the Theater of Graz. Then she moved back to Hamburg (until 1912).

In 1912 she went back to Karlsruhe, where she stayed until the end of her career.

In addition to her stage work, she was also a concert singer, often with Felix Mottl , a. a. active in London and Brussels.

She was married to the opera singer Max Mosel .
